Diagnostics

Chanticleer Veterinary Hospital is proud to offer the Santa Cruz County community state of the art in-house diagnostic equipment to facilitate rapid test results.  We can obtain blood and urine testing results within an hour with our brand-new IDEXX testing equipment.  We have digital body and dental x-ray capacity and our x-rays are sent to an off-site radiologist if we have any concerns after our own interpretation.  For patients with heart disease, chest x-rays are reviewed by a cardiologist for interpretation as well as treatment recommendations.

Our veterinarians enjoy reviewing cell samples taken from masses and tumors and will send them out only if we are unable to make a diagnosis on our own and once we are sure the samples are adequate for obtaining a diagnosis, thus minimizing “inconclusive” results that are not helpful.
We have also added genetic testing to our portfolio.  Perhaps most important, though, is our commitment to disease investigation, critical thinking, and follow up after test results are in.  Running the tests is the easy part – thinking about the results and how they apply to our patients is where we really shine.
When testing is needed beyond our capacity, we work closely with mobile radiologists and a cardiologist to bring advanced ultrasound capacity directly to our office, saving you referral fees and driving time. We also have close working relationships with the local veterinary dentists and ophthalmologists, working to provide the best quality of care for your pet.
